General Transfer Scholarship Information 
If you are planning to transfer to a four-year institution, you should contact the institution for deadlines for Admission and consideration for any Transfer Scholarships.  Some universities have applications for transfer scholarships listed on their websites.  Most of the deadlines are January 1st through March 1st. 
Jacksonville State University now has an online scholarship application for their transfer scholarships. The deadline is March 1st.  You must have applied for admission and have a 3.5 grade point average. The application can be found on the JSU website

Jacksonville State University has an online scholarship application for their transfer scholarships. You must have applied for admission and have a 3.5 grade point average. The application can be found on theJSU website.
Deadline for application to JSU is March 1.

University of West Alabama - WSCC students wishing to transfer to the University of West Alabama can apply directly to UWA if their GPA is 3.00 or above by completing UWA’s Scholarship Application found on the UWA website.
Deadline for application to UWA is April 15.

Wallace State’s President will select scholarship recipients to the following schools based on academic achievement and service to the college and the community:

University of Alabama
University of Alabama in Birmingham

Applicants, who wish to be considered must meet GPA requirements, have completed an admission application to the transferring school and plan on enrolling at that school for the upcoming Fall term.

Quick Facts about these awards:

University of Alabama – This scholarship will be awarded to one WSCC student graduating with an Associate’s Degree and a 3.5 GPA. This scholarship is for four semesters if required GPA of 3.0 is maintained. Current value is $19,652.
Deadline for application to WSCC Financial Aid is February 20.


University of Alabama in Birmingham - UAB Honors Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to one graduating WSCC student. GPA requirement is 3.5. Scholarship is $1500 for two semesters and can be renewed for a second year. For information about all the UAB Transfer Scholarships, please go to the UAB website to apply.
Deadline for application to WSCC Financial Aid is March 15.

NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) - Community college students interested in exploring a STEM career at NASA can apply today to become a NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar. Scholars learn about past, present and future Mars mission in a 5-week online session beginning July 2015. Scholars who successfully complete the web-based activities may be eligible for a 3-day workshop at NASA, where they will:

  • Work on a team project directed by NASA engineers
  • Attend briefings by NASA engineers and scientists
  • Tour NASA facilities
  • Open the door to a world of career possibilities at NASA!

Transfer Scholarship packets are available in the Financial Aid Office and must include:

  1. Cover letter to Wallace State Community College President, Dr. Vicki Karolewics, requesting consideration for the award
  2. WSCC transcript
  3. Two letters of reference
  4. Scholarship application (found on the WSCC website under Financial Aid – Other Scholarship Opportunities)
  5. Resume’ stating activities, community service, work experience, honors and awards
